Entertainment District

For those with any interest in Salt Lake City, take a moment and review the attached ‘report card’ from Building Salt Lake as it evaluates the proposed redevelopment by Smith Entertainment Group (SEG) in creating an ‘entertainment district’ in downtown Salt Lake City. If successful, it would be the biggest change in the urban core since the opening of The Gateway Mall (2011) and City Creek Mall (2012). Ryan Smith, a Silicon Slopes billionaire who owns the NBA Utah Jazz and the recently acquired NHL Utah Hockey Club (formerly the Phoenix Coyotes), is the driving force behind the sport-centric, mixed-use development. The Salt Lake City Council last night (July 9,2024) gave approval for the city to go ahead in working with SEG to make the redevelopment a reality.
